PM office receives summary of COAS, CJCSC appointments

ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister’s office on Wednesday morning confirmed receiving a summary for the appointment of the army’s prime posts from the Ministry of Defence.

In a statement, the PM’s office said it had received the summary with a panel of names for the appointment of chairman federal agency of staff committee and so the chief of the military staff.

“Prime Minister [Shehbaz Sharif] will take an alternative on the appointments as per the organized down procedure,” the temporary statement browse, once there are speculations overnight.

Government officers, yet as Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, continued to reject late-night reports that the PMO had received the summary.

The picture was cleared exclusively once Inter-Services promotion (ISPR) issued an Associate in Nursing announcement confirming the event late last night.

“GHQ has forwarded the summary for an alternative of CJCSC and COAS, containing names of six senior most Lt Gens, to MoD,” said  the ISPR in its tweet.

After Associate in Nursing hour of the ISPR’s tweet, the defence minister to boot confirmed that the PM’s office had received the summary.

Earlier, sources had told The News that the summary contains the names of Lt data Asim Munir, commissioned military officer Sahir Shamshad Mirza, commissioned military officer Azhar Abbas, commissioned military officer Nauman Mehmood, commissioned military officer Faiz Hamid and commissioned military officer Mahomet Amir as candidates for the military chief and chairman federal agency of staff committee posts, said  the well-placed sources.

When will the army chief be appointed?

Earlier on Tues, the defence minister had said that the much-anticipated appointment of consecutive army chief square measure aimed to be created in forty-eight hours.

Asif said that nominating candidates for the post of army chief is that the correct of the general Headquarters (GHQ).

 

Rejecting rumours, the minister said that there is no civil-military tension over the matter. “COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa honours Nawaz Sharif,” he added.

PM Shehbaz calls a meeting

Amid the crucial appointments, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned a gathering of parliamentary leaders happiness to the ruling alliance, sources told Geo News weekday.

 

The meeting is prepared to want place at 6pm to dialogue the political state of affairs at intervals in the country, the sources said, as a result of the Govt. faces uphill tasks on several fronts.
